Sagebrush and Cedar Desert

Birds of the Sage and Juniper Desert

The desert of the Great Basin is quiet throughout the winter but comes to life in the spring. The sun is rising and warming the landscape. Snowmelt has brought a trickle of water to an otherwise dry wash. Listen for Gray Flycatcher, House Finch, Mourning Dove, Common Raven, American Robin, Brewer’s Sparrow, Green-tailed Towhee, Black-throated Gray Warbler, Chipping Sparrow, and a distant Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. A mule deer passed through and gave an alarm snort when he detected my presence. This is also ranch country, did you hear the cattle?
